As Professor Ranky states: " We will publish high quality, refereed technical papers electronically in full color, within a few days to 1- 3 months (versus 3 to 6 years), that will make a significant contribution to the R&D activities of the academic, professional engineering and engineering management community."

Indexing and Electronic Distribution

The Journal: ADAM is indexed and abstracted electronically on a world-wide basis by the Edinburgh Engineering Virtual Library / RAMB, (please feel free to look up http://www.eevl.ac.uk). EEVL is one of the largest providers of design and manufacturing engineering information services in the world and we are very pleased to be affiliated with them. ADAM is listed in the Directory of Scholarly Electronic Journals and Academic Discussion Lists, published by the Association of Research Libraries, Washington DC, USA.

ADAM is distributed 100% electronically by CIMware Ltd. UK and CIMware USA, Inc. worldwide at http://www.cimwareukandusa.com. This means that several million people can have access to each electronically published paper, or product, or service review in ADAM simultaneously and literally real-time. The electronic media and the Internet enables us to report on new innovative products and publish and deliver quality R&D papers in a very short time to a very wide audience, world-wide! There is no time wasted on printing, shipping, distributing, filing, etc. (... and of course no trees are cut either...)

Considering the fact that most paper-based engineering science oriented journal papers reach on average only 4 (yes, four!) readers, this FREE electronic access will offer great opportunities to all! (Note, that by February 2002 ADAM had over 182000 cyberspace readers!)

Another important benefit is that our Industrial Virtual Exhibition Hall visitors at ADAM can immediately review products using our CPR (Cyberspace Product Review) 3D web technology and get in touch with the appropriate vendors, authors and service providers and develop the required contacts and feedbacks via the cyberspace.

We'll keep you informed at this website on this very exciting development and we hope that you'll be part of it too!

Format Requirements of R&D Papers to be Published Electronically in ADAM with IT

In order to minimize the amount of time it takes to professionally referee the submitted papers, as well as to ensure that our papers turn out to be that of high quality on your computer too, we hereby kindly ask all of our contributors to follow our set standards - that actually don't differ at all that of the accepted international electronic publication standards.

Please note, that we will accept electronically emailed/ attached articles in PC or Mac compatible MS-Word, or Adobe PDF, or MS-PowerPoint, or .html formats, including text, equations, tables and good quality figures (in . jpg format) and photos (also in .jpg format), preferably all in color. If you have problems providing the figures, line diagrams, photos, etc. in color electronically, we will scan them. Furthermore, if you have problems with your equations and any maths notation in the text in your word-processor, we will scan your maths using your hard copy version. In any case please submit a high quality master of your article in hard-copy printed format in case we cannot fully process your 100 percent self contained, electronic format. (As you can see, we are trying to deal with 100 percent electronic versions only).

Artwork should preferably be in JPEG (meaning.jpg) format (due to file size and speed issues on the current net), which is the Internet standard format.

At present some articles will appear in html code, as well as some following the better (print) quality and more accurate .pdf standard.

ADAM wit IT Article Format Summary:

The Title of the article should be clear and should describe the topic well

The Abstract should be about 200 words or less

Keywords should describe the contents well, following a "top down" approach (e.g. CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing), Networking, Intranets, CAD/CAM integration case study, automotive industry). Note, that the keyword list is the basis for our own index-search list (for searching the entire www.cimwareukandusa.com website).

Typical mini feature, or news oriented article: around 1200 words and 1to 3 (preferably) color illustrations.

Typical short R&D paper: around 2500 words and 3 to 4 illustrations, preferably in good quality color

Typical full R&D paper: around 4000-5000 words and 6 to 8 illustrations, preferably in color, although if you wish to write longer R&D articles, that is great, as long as there is sustained quality in the works...

Text PC or Mac compatible MS-Word, or Adobe PDF, or MS-PowerPoint, or .html formats, including text, equations, tables and good quality figures (in . jpg format) and photos (also in .jpg format), preferably all in color. For special alphabets we use .pdf, Adobe Acrobat files.

Text Font preferably Arial, or similar

Mathematical equations should be printed clearly so that they can be scanned in or turned into .pdf files easily and accurately. Alternatively Adobe Acrobat .pdf is most preferred, or as .jpg images embedded in .html text.

All line diagrams and tables should be that of high quality, electronic format, such as .jpg, or PICT, or .tif, or if in print, preferably in high quality color, so that they could be scanned in.

All photos should be that of high quality, in electronic format, such as Adobe Photoshop RGB, or .jpg, or if in print, preferably in high quality color, so that they could be scanned in. In order to reduce file sizes, try to save .jpg files at high quality, around 600 x 800 pixels.

References should be numbered in square brackets (e.g. [1], [2]) and listed in growing order at the end of the paper. The Cambridge style referencing is acceptable too, e.g. (Ho, 1994).

Preferably the article should follow the ISO standard numbering system for major headings, headings and subheadings (e.g. 1.0, 1.1, 1.1.1, 2.0, 2.1, 2.11, and so on).

Language and spelling: English or US English spelling is accepted.
